Sport volunteers e-learning

Passionate about sport, what to develop existing coaching capabilities? I’ve created an e-learning programme for sports coaches and volunteers (rugby, football, swimming and beyond) to strengthen your skills. It’s a great way to dive in for first-time coaches and offers existing coaches the chance to sharpen your game.

Following conversations with sport volunteers, it became clear, that individuals want to know more about general coaching soft skills, how to teach effectively and how to support neurodiverse athletes.

This was the reason for the creation of this course. To support sport volunteers, develop capability and give something back to the community.

More about the e-learning

The e-learning has 5 online modules and a full day practical.

The course is a steal at £150 and, on completion, you can nominate a sports club to receive a £50 cash donation. This is learning with real impact for you and your community!

See details below for each of the units;

Module 1: How people learn

"Exploring how athletes and coaches learn best"

Insight into the science of skill acquisition, motivation, and learning environments—helping coaches create sessions that connect knowledge, practice, and performance.

Strategies for reinforcing learning through reflection, feedback loops, and real-world application, ensuring lasting impact on athlete development and coaching effectiveness.

Why I built this course

Developing coaches is a big reason I love what I do. I trained over 200 coaches in my career. I want to work now with sport volunteers.

Someone gifting their time and energy to kids’ sports is someone who deserves to be supported. The industry needs to raise its game - pun intended - and empowering volunteer coaches is how I’m contributing my skills to make that happen.

After numerous conversations with amateur and pro-athletes and support staff, I noticed a worrying trend. From swimming to athletics, rugby to football everyone was aware of a need to build beyond just technical skills.

It became clear that people need to learn how to coach, not just instruct. So I built something to answer this need, putting all my years of practice into a 6-weeks long course, aimed at volunteers without a coaching qualification.

It’s accessible for beginners while containing enough new info to keep existing coaches engaged. This is not technical nor tied to any one sport; this is all about your soft skills.

  • How do you understand and encourage an athlete who is stuck for 12 months and not improving?

  • What do you do if you need to deliver a feedback to a challenging parent?

  • How well do you influence and role model behaviours so athletes can achieve maximum performance?

  • Why is this athlete shutting down, we only changed the order of the drills...?

Knowing what to do in situations like those is what you’ll learn on this course.

Why am I giving a £50 donation for every completed course (T&Cs apply)?

Because I want to encourage as many people as possible to take their soft coaching skills seriously, plus I am a big advocate for kids’ sports and want to see a positive change. Grass-route sport clubs can struggle with funds. This is an amazing opportunity for you to develop your coaching skills and 'earn' money for your club, simply by learning new things. It is a win-win situation for you and your club.
